puzzle #44971

after the 6. move, black has 4 answers to escape from check. only 6...Kxa3: is bad and loses at the spot. the other moves are as good as the solution. so, theres is no need to punish the solver with a loss of 9 points, if he choses 6...Ka1, which i did.
Why passively move the king to a1 when there are two rooks for the price of one up for grabs?
"Why passively move the king to a1 when there are two rooks for the price of one up for grabs?" - plz study the puzzle before posting, thx.
I think you are looking at the wrong puzzle, Clarkey :)

Not sure where the 2 rooks are when you reach move 6
I think Pipapoh has a point - kb2, kb3 are 'accepted' answers... ka1, which is just as viable, is not for some reason. I think the main thing that should be punished (as pointed out) is kxa3 - other moves are fine.
It's important to write how you got to the position you did as most puzzles have many solutions.
Clarkey, he's talking about move 6, it's a 6 move puzzle:

1. Rf3+, Ka2
2. Rf2, Nd3+
3. Kd2, e1=Q+
4. Kd3+, QxfR
5. NxeR, QxaR
6. Nc3+, Kb2

That last move, Kb2, can equally be Kb3. But Ka1, which is equally viable (doesn't lead to being checkmated or indeed, even checked unlike Kb2), isn't allowed and makes you fail the puzzle.

It's a valid complaint. Might explain why a 2153 puzzle played 1000 times only has 34 upvotes.
"... I made the puzzles, thx."
