This is so unfair

I continue to petition that 10+0 be replaced by 10+2... it doesn't make sense for rapid games to be decided by timeout (or on the verge of being decided by timeout).
If you checkmate them before their clock runs low you don't have to worry about this 'advantage' of theirs. Focus on that and you will do well.
OTB and online chess are clearly very different animals. We are all familiar with some of the peculiarities of online chess: no illegal moves, pieces perfectly centered on their squares, no "j'adoube" of sorts, pre-moves, automatic check detection etc. It stands to reason that visual aids involving the clocks be also made available, even though they are nowhere to be found in OTB chess.

You are correct @TheKingClash

I think it is there for 1 reason, to make people move faster.

Also, why is 2+1 bullet ?

2+1 is techincally blitz, 20+10 is rapid, 7+2 is blitz, not rapid.

online chess is about speed really.

OTB - We always play slower, and we are more attentive
2+1 is bullet and 7+2 is rapid simply due to lichess.org/faq#time-controls

You have to draw the lines somewhere, eh? It's no smooth transition.

I like to call 2+1 "pensioners bullet" but still it's bullet by the rule.

10 2 is really bad because it loses the simplicity of 10 0 but it's still not enough time to reasonably think. 10 0 if you don't want increment ant at least 10 5 if you do. Halfway is cancer.
