Should Christians play chess?

Christianity has a long history of opposing intellectual pursuit of any kind, ever since Genesis.

What was the first commandment, the first forbidden sin?
To eat of the fruit of the tree of Knowledge.

Reason and thought have always been the enemy of religions such as Christianity, and they always will be.

Hahaha, it's pretty well-written satire. Great take on the whole "D&D is Satan's game!" trope.
Oh that's cute.

I didn't see it was satire. I've seen so much demonized by Christians that I wasn't surprised if they targeted chess.

Music, authors, philosophers, democrats, actors, comedians, games.....nothing escapes their condemnation.

It's an attempt to keep their followers in fear; fear is the most powerful tool and driving force of Christianity.
Fear is the most powerful and used tool anywhere, for anything, not only for Christianity.
Religion and Government for sure.

Even an individual who wishes to lead must be able to inspire awe.
Don't let the plagues of organized religion, demagogyes (bad doggy), & petty theologians (an unholy trinity) dissuade you from belief [remember D_god: 2 of the greatest existentialists PASCAL & Kierkegaard -- were men of FAITH]. The SPIRIT lives and thrives in the souls of suffering sinners despite the sordid veils of the unholy trinity.

___ Regarding the incisive #8 observation: truth brother. BUT:

His sceptre shows the force of temporal power,
The attribute to awe and majesty,
Wherein doth sit the dread and fear of kings;
But mercy is above this sceptred sway;
It is enthroned in the hearts of kings, 2135
It is an attribute to God himself;
And earthly power doth then show likest God's
When mercy seasons justice. Therefore, Jew,
Though justice be thy plea, consider this,
That, in the course of justice, none of us 2140
Should see salvation:

P.S.: @rise_UIED this is the 'moral lesson' core of the QUALITY OF MERCY speech

I'm sorry that you are a man of faith, Isaiah.

To me faith is the will to avoid knowing what is true.

Kierkegaard is credited as being a pioneer of what became Existentialism, that's true. I have read him (and I appreciate him) but he was naive and still trapped within the confines of theism.
