Why I prefer lichess to other sites.

1. Doesn't cost money

2. Great style and feel.

I think these comparisons are biased. No one's even mentioned ChessCube yet!

Yeah AdBlock works fine for chess.com as well. It surpises me so many people still don't use it.
As for the topic, I started hating on chess.com for several reasons:
first is cheaters, I know they do get rid of them, but there are still lots of them, and the number is not decreasing.
second, for some wierd reason, I can't play with most of the players, I mean I can see lots of games and players playing with each other, but I always have to wait a lot of time to get paired up from a wide range (i'm ~2k there, -200/+max is my limit) for the most common 3|0 game. Always same ten-twenty players. That frustrates me as hell :) Although it didn't use to be that way.
third, modding is bad as hell. Chat is always full of kids showing their inferiority complex abusing, spamming etc. and talking about anything but chess. All you can do is block them, which after a dozen times becomes boring as hell. There's no button to flag someone. There's no real chat on lichess, so it's not a problem here yet (hehe).
The only reason I'm still using chess.com is correspondence games. Here, on lichess, it's not so popular as far as I can see. But sure I get to play with engine users in like 1 in 10 games.

I play on chess.com and here. The big difference is price, obviously, but lichess is a slick site and getting better. I expecially like the instant computer analysis. You have to request it specially on chess.com and wait at least a day, by that time i have forgotten. The pool of players is a little stronger at chess.com but there are still may good players at li. I don't care about variants and havent played correspondence in years. I stick pretty much to blitz. As for idiot comments, I turned them off at li. All in all, i was presently surprised at the quality of li and am thinking about cancelling chess.com after my subscript. expires. have never heard of chesscube, but i'll look into that too. competition will only improve these sites.

And at chess.com I betting they make you pay for that one day late analysis. Here at lichess everything is better and everything is free.
I once tried to explain to some people at chess.com that everything on the internet should be free. They didn't get it. They thought it was normal to have to pay for stuff.
I recently discovered lichess, it was the 1st result when I googled "free online chess". I was amazed. I never saw a more perfect chess website. And by the way I also like the lichess computer analysis. What a great way to learn stuff.
