Don't allow account names that start with "GM"

It just sucks. There are so many players whose names start with "GM," which is quite misleading. I guess the same could be done for "IM," "FM," "NM" et cetera. If someone has a title and wants to show it, they should just contact lichess and claim it that way.
the "li" in "lichess" stands for "libre"
@MessyAnswer

I believe "scuffi" meant that "li" as in "lichess" refers to "libre", a word that in some instances can be translated to "free" or "at liberty". The point "scuffi" is trying to make is that everyone here have the liberty to add any two letter combination before their name if that is what their alias to be.

Also understanding the point you are trying to make, you don't see WHY one wouldn't want to claim their title if they really had one, implying the people using these aliases might be imposters!?

This might usually be the case. Personally I have seen a "GM" titled player here having "GM" before the name of their aliases. (Like this --> "GM" GMabcde-fghij)

Perhaps when the titled player made the account he/she believed that the "GM" before their "intended" alias name would disappear when lichess.org confirmed the player was whom he/she claimed to be.

And for as long players here have the liberty to choose their own aliases (just like you have the liberty to unfollow/follow players) without restrictions, lichess.org will continue to root a steady user base making this amazing site possible!

Hope you might consider viewing personal observations from multiple angles and that this wasn't a MessyAnswer.

I think the real titles stand out enough for this to not be a problem. Usernames has a long history of being random characters/words not depicting the reality anyway.
^ lol now that this thread is slightly off topic I just realized that the lichess horse looks like a mountain goat.

Or is it just me.
Can it just be made sure that the prefix, if it’s a legitimate title, is always bold, in another color, or something like that? Currently it’s true in some places and not others.
