What would be your Real Life ELO rating? Try this test!

1166 is quite realistic for me. Its something between my classic and blitz rating on Lichess.
OK, my 2¢ AKA pants down. I did it twice - yesterday and today. I played fast through it like in a blitz game: about 10m for all examples. First attempt: 1497. Second attempt: 1292. That's average ~1400. I expected a much worser result in the first attempt and a slightly better one in the second. Surprise. But it seems to be quite realistic. But shouldn't there be some time control in the experiment? 10s vs 1d thinking time for one example makes a big difference IMHO.
@karlgoethebier I think time wouldn't make that much of a difference.
Obviously if you spend more time it's better than moving in 10s but I think a 1500 for example, will basically always think like a 1500 no matter how much time he has. Like when he has 6 hours in a tournament.
It's not just calculation, it's also chess knowledge.
I'm thinking of those players who played Morphy with no clocks... 15 hour games, and it still didn't change anything. Poor Paul Morphy waiting after those guys :)

"...It's not just calculation, it's also chess knowledge..."

Yes, sure. But common sense tells me that a 10s analysis might have another result than a 1h, 1d or 1y analysis - what ever the subject of our efforts may be. Else mankind would solve all problems in a hurry presupposed given enough knowledge - which is just a nice thought. I also like to point out that these are two different abilities: To solve a problem and to solve it in a given time.

Best regards, Karl

Like I said, of course taking more time is better than finding a move in 10s.
But in relation to this chess quiz (not solving mankind problems), if a 1500 takes 30 minutes to complete the 76 problems or 3 hours, I think the result will basically be the same.
You can only find moves that your pool of chess knowledge already knows (pattern recognition). Even the quality of pure calculation is in relation to your current skill.
This is why I can give you all the time in the world and you're still not going to play like Kasparov. You're basically still going to play at your level.
I think this is why there isn't a time factor in this quiz.
But hey! I might be wrong! :)
