Player order in broadcasts

In chess, the player with the white pieces is usually named first. For some reason, this is reversed in broadcasts where the black player is named first in the game list. I find this very confusing and suggest to just swap the names to comply with the general convention of naming white first.
The list on the left matches the orientation of the chessboard. The players even have the colors before their name to avoid confusion. The typical standard format of grouping two players is normally displayed with the player playing the white pieces above the player playing the black pieces.

Anywhere in pgn's, tournament brackets, pairing results (1-0), ... white is first.

Tournament Brackets: (White is always on top)
White
-------- = Winner : ____________
Black

I see that the order matches the board's orientation. However, I do not see why this should be helpful. Even though there are colors, the order is by far the most prominent thing to look at and even though it is certainly possible to figure this out, it is still unnecessarily confusing and I do not know any other site that displays names in this order.
You are right that white is first in any other instance which in my opinion makes it even more confusing to have this single point where things are reversed. We noticed this while broadcasting the German Frauenbundesliga and did not see the point of this design decision.
For me, it's the opposite: in the standard game window, white is always on top in the game summary, regardless of the board orientation (which is black on top by default) and I always find that confusing.
Maybe, this will depend on the target group. A player who has never participated in over-the-board tournaments is most likely not used to always seeing white first. While I still can't really believe that the reversed order (with black first) is helpful, it would at least be a solution to add an option to customize the order, since I just watched a game in the candidate tournament and was confused why the player who won the game had a losing position until I remembered that Lichess uses an unconventional order of player names. Actually, this alone would even be a reason for me to broadcast live tournaments elsewhere in the future. I also don't see a chance that I will get used to this since, as aforementioned, Lichess is an exception in this regard.
This is completely confusing.

In a list where the players' names are next to each other left to right, it is always clear who plays White.

But in vertical arrangement, it is completely ambiguous without further hints.

I used to think that it is stupid to show the White player on top, when the board next to it shows the White pieces at the bottom. But flipping it didn't solve the problem, as some people use one order, some another.

When I am looking at broadcasts these days (here on lichess), I have absolutely no clue who plays White and who plays Black from the games list alone. I absolutely have to look up the board.

Some sort of colour badge, be it a dot or a background, would be very helpful.

(As a related side note, the FEN standard is given the pieces from 8th rank to 1st rank, and I think every chess programmer has a very special relation to that one...)
Some read from left to right, while others read from right to left. Some write left handed and others right handed. Some look at the conclusion before reading the first sentence. Some like being different, while others think they are doing good. Everything is biased.

Leave well alone: Stop trying to change something that is already good enough.
Another new argument why this order is very confusing (if you don't know how it works) or maybe just objectively bad:

Broadcast:
Black player
White player

Opening Database:
White player
Black player

I got used rather quickly to the changes for broadcasts but right now I checked some openings with the opening book and got really confused what player had White or Black there. All the time it was clear that the White player is the one mentioned first (on top), but now I can't say until I check the games. For one system you have it this way, for another area you have it the other way - that is inconsistent and just confusing for everyone. I would really like to see another solution there.
